Emollients

Squalane

Squalane is an emollient used to help soften and smooth the skin surface. It is distinct from squalene.

Why it is used

Contributes to the feel and emollient function of cosmetic formulas.

Who may find it relevant

May be relevant when choosing a comfortable moisturiser or emollient texture.

Formulation compatibility

Can be formulated with water-based humectants in an emulsion.

Compatibility inside one finished formula is not an instruction to layer or mix separate products.

A common misconception

An oil is not automatically a complete replacement for a moisturiser.

Where this appears in Venvia products

General evidence for an ingredient is not evidence for a finished product. Venvia products are still in development and no product claims are made here.
