Humectants

Sodium PCA

Sodium PCA is a salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid used as a skin-conditioning humectant.

Why it is used

Contributes to the water-holding function of a formulation.

Who may find it relevant

May be useful within a moisturiser; no separate sodium PCA step is required.

Formulation compatibility

Can be formulated with other humectants and moisturising components.

Compatibility inside one finished formula is not an instruction to layer or mix separate products.

A common misconception

A safety assessment is not a clinical performance claim for every finished product.

Where this appears in Venvia products

General evidence for an ingredient is not evidence for a finished product. Venvia products are still in development and no product claims are made here.
