Cholesterol
Cholesterol is one of the lipids involved in the outer skin layer. Its use in a topical product is a different subject from blood cholesterol.
Why it is used
It can be included with other lipids in a barrier-focused formula.
Who may find it relevant
Relevant to understanding lipid-containing moisturisers; individual benefit depends on the finished product.
Formulation compatibility
Often formulated with ceramides and other moisturising ingredients. Do not infer a specific lipid ratio unless verified.
Compatibility inside one finished formula is not an instruction to layer or mix separate products.
A common misconception
Its presence does not mean a formula exactly reproduces every part of the skin barrier.

General evidence for an ingredient is not evidence for a finished product. Venvia products are still in development and no product claims are made here.
