Ceramides NP AP and EOP
Ceramides are a family of lipids found in the outer skin layer. NP, AP and EOP identify different types used in cosmetic formulations.
Why it is used
They are used in barrier-focused moisturisers. A finished product can include other lipids and humectants alongside them.
Who may find it relevant
People exploring moisturisation and barrier support may find the formulation approach relevant. It is not a diagnosis or a guarantee of suitability.
Formulation compatibility
Can be formulated alongside cholesterol, humectants and emollients. Compatibility depends on the whole formula.
Compatibility inside one finished formula is not an instruction to layer or mix separate products.
A common misconception
More ceramide names do not automatically mean better performance.
